If you’re here, you’re probably wondering:
How do I get great skin while dealing with ADHD?
The answer? Consistency.
The problem? ADHD makes consistency feel impossible.
The ADHD Skincare Struggle
We crave newness and spontaneity, but skincare? It’s the same thing every day. Boring. Repetitive. Easy to forget.
After years of struggling, I realized there’s no magic hack. The only thing that works? Just doing it. (Even when I don’t want to.)
But here’s the thing: understanding how ADHD affects your skincare routine is the first step to overcoming these challenges.
Next, you need to find what works for you.
Finding What Works for You

Creating a routine that suits your ADHD tendencies is key. Here are a few tips that have helped me and might help you too:
🧴 Keep It Simple
Start small: Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen. That’s it. No 10-step routine. No stress.
🚫 Skin Picking? Trick Your Brain.
ADHD makes us pick at our skin without thinking. My hack? I trained my brain to hate the idea of picking.
- I read “5 Reasons You Should NEVER Pick Your Skin” over and over again.
- Now, my brain associates face-picking with negativity.
- If that fails? Distraction. ADHD makes getting distracted super easy, so I use that to my advantage.
👀 Make Skincare Visible
Out of sight, out of mind? That’s ADHD 101.
- Keep your skincare on the counter (not in a drawer).
- Sticky notes on the mirror? Yes.
- Bathroom products = bathroom routine. Don’t leave them in your bedroom.
⏰ Set Alarms
No shame in using your phone for reminders. Skincare is just one more notification away.
🔗 Attach It to an Existing Habit
- Brushing your teeth? Do skincare after.
- Morning coffee? Do skincare while it brews.
- Watching Netflix? Apply moisturizer before you hit play.
